Outliers, Correlation Values, and Extreme Case Sampling
Extreme case Sampling is an amazingly powerful exploratory research method that researchers often overlook. Extreme Case Sampling is a very efficient way to make discoveries in many areas because it allows us to analyze only a handful of data rather than a huge amount of data. Extreme Case Sampling takes advantage of the fact that extreme cases have a tremendously more powerful influence on a correlation than less extreme cases do. Using an online interactive program, we see the effect of extreme cases on correlation values and this gives us a more practical and concrete sense of why extreme cases are so important in studying correlations. In this tutorial video we see how Extreme Case Sampling can be used to test the claims of astrology.
