Mesoamerica

In this video lesson we will be looking at Mesopotamia. Mesopotamia is a name for the area of the Tigris–Euphrates river system, corresponding to modern-day Iraq, the northeastern section of Syria and to a much lesser extent southeastern Turkey, smaller parts of southwestern Iran and Kuwait.

The Classic Period in Mesoamerican history is divided into the Early (250–600 c.e.), Late (600–800), and Terminal Classic (800–900/1100). Four major culture areas reached florescence during this period: the central highlands, dominated by Teotihuacán until its fall in 650.

Mesoamerica was composed of southern countries in which cultural diffusion led to the cultures that exist today in Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, and the United States.
