Complex Ions_ Precipitating and oxidising manganese
Aqueous sodium hydroxide is added to a solution of manganese (II) nitrate to precipitate manganese (II) hydroxide. This is then oxidised to manganese (IV) oxide using hydrogen peroxide. The structures of the complexes and the redox chemistry are discussed briefly.
